Holy Cross Family Perks

January 17, 2014

Did you know that the Holy Cross Early Education Center offers a ‘perks program’ for Holy Cross families?

  • 20% discount offered to  enrollees at the preschool who have a sibling at Holy Cross School.
  • Free early drop off from 8:00 until class starts at 8:30 – drop your older child off at the ‘big school’ and then drop your preschooler off at preschool. (You may drop off even earlier, from 7:30 to 8:00 for $2 per day.)
  • Free late stay from 2:30 to 3:00 – pick up your preschooler right before you pick up your Holy Cross student at 3:30. (Or pay $1 per day to stay until 3:15.)
  • Early ‘in-house’ registration for families with Holy Cross students who have younger siblings wanting to enroll at the EEC, just like our current EEC families (so you can get first choice in class times.)

Valentine Dance 2012

February 14, 2012

from Penny Miller, director of Holy Cross Early Education Center –

Our EEC/Kindergarten Valentine Dance was a big hit!  There were lots of delicious treats to eat, a photo spot to take Valentine pictures, and dancing, dancing, dancing.  We had a great turn out, with almost 70% of the EEC students and Kindergarten students in attendance.  Favorite moments of the night included dancing the “Tooty Ta” with the teachers and Dr. Beverlin and the Snake Line.    You can view, copy or print photos from the night at  The password is  holycrossop.

(Check out the Holy Cross EEC Blog by Mrs. Miller @ It’s a fun blog, plus she has some photos from the Valentine Dance!)

EEC Open House

January 19, 2011

Holy CrossNOTE: We’ll have more about the Open House at Holy Cross very soon. Save the date – Sunday, Feb. 6.

from Penny Miller, Director at Holy Cross Early Childhood Center

Dear Holy Cross School Families,

I would like to invite you to stop in to the Early Education Center for open house on Sunday, Feb. 6.  Come and see what we are about and what the “little school” looks like!  It doesn’t matter if you have small children or not – just stop in and take a look.  Hopefully, you can help us spread the word about our great little preschool!

I would also like to let the Holy Cross school families know about our HOLY CROSS SCHOOL FAMILY PERKS program.  It was called to my attention that some of you may not realize the “perks” of sending your preschoolers to our center.  Here they are:

  • 20% discount for enrollees who have a sibling at Holy Cross School.
  • Free early drop off from 8:00 until class starts at 8:30 (drop your older child off at the “Big school” and then drop your preschooler off here).  You may drop off from 7:30 to 8:00 for $2 per day.
  • Free late stay from 2:30-3:00 (pick up your preschooler right before you have to pick up your Holy Cross student at 3:15).
  • People with Holy Cross students who have younger siblings wanting to enroll at the EEC can take advantage of our early “in-house” registration just like our families at the EEC so you can get first choice in class times.

If you know of a neighbor or friend who is interested in preschool alone or with childcare options, please pass the word on to them.

Hope to see you on Sunday, February 6!

They’re also holding a Scholastic Book Fair this week (it runs through Friday), so if you need any books or want to stock up on holiday or birthday gifts, stop in at the EEC.

A Note To Those Who Use The EEC Playground…

September 17, 2010

from our Early Education Center staff –

Hello to all Holy Cross families,

I need to get a word out about our playground for the preschool.  We love to share the preschool with all our families.  I know that it is a great place for the kids to play while a sibling is having a sports practice in the field or while on a walk around the neighborhood.  Please feel free to let your children play there.

There is one thing that we ask of you.  Please see that the children (I suspect this is the bigger children) are not moving our smaller Little Tykes equipment around. When our children go out to play, our teachers have to move the equipment back to the desired spot.  This takes supervision time away from our teachers, as they have to work together to get everything moved back. This often happens many days in a row. So much moving around is also hard on the old plastic play equipment.  We are noticing more and more wear and tear on it from constantly being moved. We would really appreciate it if the adults present could keep an eye on this.

Another problem that we are having is with the boat sandbox.  The children take the lid off to play with the sand.  That is fine, but please make sure the lid gets back on.  When the lid gets left off overnight, the sand can get used by an animal or fill up with water if it rains.  On Thursday, it was very wet because someone left the lid off after the EEC closed for the day.

We would appreciate everyones help keeping our little playground in good shape.

“Misc. Things Thursday”

September 16, 2010

For lack of a better name, I’m calling this “Misc. Things Thursday.”  I just have a bunch of little things to note in the blog today.  Feel free to comment and add any others that I’m missing. Also, please share the blog via e-mail, Twitter, Facebook, etc. (see below the post) to share with other Holy Cross families you think might have missed it.

  • Entertainment Books are now available for sale. $25. Sales will continue through Sept. 20.  A book will come home with your student – send $25 in if you’d like to purchase the book, return the book otherwise. You can purchase additional books in the school office – keep one in each of your family vehicles, so that you always have those coupons with you when you need them!
  • Tomorrow is FIT Club Friday, so if your student has a FIT Club shirt, they can wear it to school.
  • School will be dismissed at noon on Friday this week, with teachers doing an in-service in the afternoon with the new School of Faith program. ASC will be open and available until 5:30 p.m. Contact Mrs. Growney if you want more information.
  • Don’t forget our students will take the ITBS tests next week at Holy Cross. Make sure to send them in with a good night’s sleep and a nutritious breakfast for a great start to the day!
  • Penny Miller, director at our Holy Cross Early Education Center, has entered the world of blogging!  Check out the EEC blog at You can sign up to get an e-mail alert when there is a new blog post added. (You can do that on this blog also, you know – right? – at the top of the right column here).
