Seeking Catechesis Assistants

August 26, 2013

from Laura Haeusser, coordinator of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd at Holy Cross –

Holy Cross School is looking for helpers in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program during the afternoons of school days.

Our fully trained catechists need assistants to read scripture passages to the little ones while they move little wooden figures of the Good Shepherd and His sheep, or move little figures of the angel Gabriel and the Blessed Virgin Mary.  An assistant will help with the pouring of water at the mini-baptismal font, or will read the names of the objects used at Mass while the little ones place them carefully on our mini-altar.  Since Catechesis of the Good Shepherd utilizes the Montessori Method, each child in the atrium is doing a different work at the same time!  Although our catechists do the teaching, it is hard to be everywhere at once!  We’d love to have an extra pair of hands and an extra set of eyes to help us!  . . . What about yours? . . .

Everyone is welcome; you don’t have to have a child at the school to volunteer.  Catechists will be in the Narthex to answer any questions and to share available afternoon times with you.  . . . Please consider lending us your hands!
