Our Strides Are All Different….

May 16, 2011

from 8th-grade Holy Cross teacher, Paula Patterson –

“Our strides are all different,
our paths not the same,
but we are still united,
in the faith we proclaim!”

On May 19, 2011, forty 8th grade students will graduate from Holy Cross Catholic School. For many of them, Holy Cross has been their ”home away from home” since kindergarten. They have grown up together in an environment that promotes and nourishes their Catholic faith. They have shared their gifts and talents with each other, recognizing that it is their Catholic responsibility to use them well. They have played, worked, and learned together in preparation for that next phase in their lives, High School!

The class of 2011’s graduation will begin with an all school mass at 9 a.m. in the church. Dressed in their graduation gowns, they will process into the church for their last mass as students of Holy Cross Catholic School. Following the mass the graduates and their parents along with the pastor, principal, and junior high teachers, will enjoy a catered brunch in Liekteig Hall.

Later that evening at 7 p.m. in the church, the 8th graders will receive their diplomas from Mrs. Gates and Father Bob. Many will also be recognized for receiving scholarships to area high schools. The top Holy Cross scholar will be announced along with some other very special awards.

As the ceremony concludes the Class of 2011 will look toward the easy days of summer before they head off to Saint Thomas Aquinas, Saint James Academy, Rockhurst, Saint Teresa Academy, Notre Dame de Sion, Shawnee Mission South, Shawnee Mission East, Blue Valley North and Blue Valley Northwest High Schools.

Congratulations to the Class of 2011!
May God bless you in all your endeavors!
