A Rainy Royal Outing

May 11, 2011

from Holy Cross 6th-grade teacher Allison Carney –

On May 5, 36 sixth grade students, 10 parents, and two very brave teachers ventured out in the rain to see the Kansas City Royals beat the Baltimore Orioles nine to one.

The day was a reward for diligent service by the students to the school in the capacity of Safety Patrol. Because of rain, the group “tailgated” in the gym, and enthusiastically played a few games of Backboard Bombardment before setting out to Kauffman Stadium.

The Holy Cross contingent got a little wet as they waited out the rain, but that was quickly forgotten when they game began. The 6th graders enjoyed an exorbitant amount of cotton candy, and a fantastic win by the Royals. A good time was had by all.
