Preschool Perks

January 18, 2012

from Penny Miller, Holy Cross EEC Director -

In-house registration began yesterday for the Holy Cross Early Education Center.

If you have a preschool-aged child and would like to enroll, stop by the office at Holy Cross and ask Anita for a Preschool enrollment form.  You can also give us a call at 381-7151, and we will get one sent home for you.

We have a Holy Cross Perks Program here at the preschool.  There are a few perks at the EEC  for having children enrolled at Holy Cross Catholic School.

  • Your preschool child will receive a 20% discount off of tuition if they have a sibling at the big school.
  • You are also able to drop off your preschool child at little bit early at 8 a.m. for free and let your child stay from 2:30 – 3 p.m. for no cost.  This free service helps with the coordination of our class start times with the elementary school.  You can drop your elementary student off at Holy Cross and then drop your preschooler at the EEC at 8:00 so you do not have to wait until class start time at 8:30.  The afternoon class ends at 2:30 but you can keep your preschool here until 3:00 which is just in time to be in the parking lot for dismissal at Holy Cross.
  • Another perk is that the Holy Cross school families get to take advantage of the early in-house registration date rather than waiting for our open registration.  Holy Cross Parishioners also receive $25 off of their registration fee.

Let us know if you have any questions!

Open House Pix and more…

February 7, 2011

We had 25 children tour Holy Cross Sunday at our annual Open House.  There was a lot of energy and excitement in the hallways, and the day was great fun. Thanks to all those who visited and those who volunteered. And thanks to the Knights of Columbus for breakfast!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Here are some other Holy Cross odds and ends you need to know:

1.  Parent/Teacher Conferences are this Thursday, Feb. 10.  If a teacher has requested a conference or you would like to conference with one of the teachers, please print out and complete the form that was in the newsletter on Friday.  Send the form to the office tomorrow.

2.  Early Bird Registration Deadline is next Monday, Feb. 14.  Turn your 2011-2012 registrations in on or before Monday to save on your registration fee.  Before the deadline the registration fee is $150/child with a maximum of $400/family.  After the deadline the fee is $175/child with a maximum of $450/family.  In order for us to accept your registration, we must have BOTH the completed form and payment for at least one child’s registration.

3.  Open Enrollment starts March 1. This means that only current school families may enroll up until that date.  After March 1 we will accept enrollments from new families.  Therefore, if a class fills you may be placed on a waiting list.

Have a great week!

A few random notes…

January 29, 2011

Just a few quick and random thoughts for you to consider this weekend -

  • Voting continues through Monday for the Pepsi Refresh contest. “It ain’t over ’til it’s over!” So, please vote, vote, vote. All the voting info is on the school website at holycrosscatholicschool.com.
  • Please consider dropping by the school tomorrow morning to help clean up after Celebration. We’ll start after 7:30 mass and continue until it’s done. Many hands make light work – it won’t take more than a few hours if we have lots of helpers.  Call Jenny Kropf if you have any questions.
  • Registration forms for the 2011-12 school year went home by backpack mail this past week. The discounted Early Bird registration fee ends on February 15, so get that check and paperwork returned to the office soon!
  • Box Top and Label coordinator Marti Palmer is looking for a UPC code from a Pepperidge Farm product and a Pop Secret product (for a Labels for Education bonus sheet that was turned in). If you can provide either or both UPC codes, please send them by backpack mail to Marti (Devin Palmer, 5NE).

I told you they were going to be random thoughts, didn’t I?

Thanks for your help. Have a great weekend. See you at Celebration tonight!

EEC Registration

January 26, 2011

from Penny Miller, Holy Cross Early Education Center director -

Dear Holy Cross Families,

We are now doing the early in-house registration for Holy Cross Early Education Center.  This early registration is also open to all families at Holy Cross School.  If you have a young child that you are wanting to enroll at Holy Cross EEC,  you can do one of the following::

*  Call 913-381-7151 to ask for a registration packet.  We will send it home with your elementary school child.

* Email us at pmiller@holycrosscatholicschool.com and we will send home a registration packet with your elementary school child.

*  Stop in the office at Holy Cross and ask Anita for a registration packet.

*  Stop here at the EEC and pick up the registration packet.

All Holy Cross Families get a 20% discount on tuition at the EEC.  They also get free early drop off service from 8:00-8:30 or at 7:30 to 8:30 for $2 per day (the usual cost is $4) and your preschool age child can stay from 2:30 to 3:00 for free so you can pick up your preschooler just right before you pick up your older child from Holy Cross (regular class dismissal is at 2:30).

Please come visit us at open house on February 6th and call us if we can help you in any way.

50 Days and Counting

February 12, 2010

50 school days and counting until graduation.

In January, Holy Cross eighth-graders planning on attending a Catholic High School took their placement tests. The students will be receiving their results soon.

We have eighth-graders heading to St. Thomas Aquinas, St. James, Bishop Miege, St. Theresa’s, Sion, Rockhurst, Blue Valley North, Blue Valley Northwest, Shawnee Mission West and Shawnee Mission South next year.

We will miss them all as they step into the next phase of their education!

But, we also look forward to a whole new crop of little ‘kinders’ starting their journey at Holy Cross.

(Don’t forget to get your registration forms in by Tuesday in order to get the early-registration discount!)

Holy Cross Preschool Registration

January 19, 2010

A note from Penny Miller, director at Holy Cross Early Education Center -

In-house registration goes out today at the Early Education Center for the 2010-2011 school year. We would like to extend this registration to the families at Holy Cross Elementary School to have an early chance to enroll your preschool-aged child at the Early Education Center (preschool).

We start preschool and/or child care at 2 1/2-year-old (by Sept. 1, they must be potty-trained). We offer a 2 1/2-year-old class, 3-year-old classes, Pre-K (4/5-year-olds) and T-K (Transitional Kindergarten for those who are 5 or turn 5 by Dec. 1 of the school year). We also offer child care from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. We can mix and match preschool classes with extended-day or full-day child care OR you can have preschool only. Our center has flexible schedules to meet your needs.

If you have a preschool-aged child and would like to have an early enrollment package, please call me at the preschool at (913) 381-7151. We can send it home to you with your elementary-aged child.

Open registration for new families begins February 7.

Feel free to call if you have any questions!

- Penny Miller, Director of Holy Cross Early Education Center

Holy Cross registration packets are being sent today.  The Early Bird rate for the registration fee is good through February 16. This is a change from the date originally printed in the school calendar. Get your paperwork in early!

Please complete all the forms. This gives us the opportunity to do an annual verification of the information in our database.

Make note: Early Bird deadline has been changed to February 16.

And, make sure to tell your friends about Holy Cross. We have a school community to be proud of at Holy Cross, and we need your help to spread the good word of what we have to offer here. Thanks for letting others know about Holy Cross.

Bring them by Holy Cross. Or have them call the school office to arrange a tour – (913) 381-7408
