Por favor traiga un rastrillo, carretilla y pala si planea trabajar con el mulch, guantes si estará trabajando con los árboles, y suministros de pintura si va a pintar. Si no dispone de ninguna de estas cosas, simplemente asiste.

The Work Continues

August 9, 2011

There is a LOT of work going on at Holy Cross School. Take a peek at pictures taken Tuesday at the school. Obviously, a lot of work still remains to be done before teachers return next week and then classes start the week after that. But, have faith – the school will be ready!

On another interesting construction note, Dan Himmelberg commented on the blog last week, “For those of you who wondered… The old air conditioners were recycled in a couple of ways.. We kept a couple newer ones for emergencies at the school, preschool or the church. Most were moved to Habitat ReStore, to be refurbished or parted out, and a few went to another catholic school in the Diocese.”

If Walls Could Talk

August 3, 2011

Anita Lemmon, Holy Cross school secretary, offered up the picture in today’s post.  She said the workers installing the new windows have found some ‘treasures’ in the walls and behind the heating units.

Click for larger imageSome of the items found include:

  • Denny Haggerty‘s English paper from 1992 (Denny was in 8th grade at Holy Cross that year)
  • Kelsey McCarty‘s 1999 merit card (Kelsey was in 7th grade at the time)
  • Lee Redlingshafer‘s 6th-grade merit card from 1996.

What a fun blast from the past!  If anyone knows where these Holy Cross alums are today, pass along this blog post.

This school year marks the 25th anniversary of Holy Cross School.  So, Anita (whose kids all went to Holy Cross) has been reminiscing about all the students who have roamed the halls of our school anyway!

Look for much more about the 25th anniversary in the coming months.  If you know Holy Cross alumni, let them know about the blog – we’ll have pictures and other memories to share. You won’t want to miss it. And, we’ll need your help to identify the students in some of our pictures!

Reminder from Anita Lemmon, Holy Cross School Secretary -

Janssen Glass is working on the front of the building.  They have asked that if you need to visit the school, please park in the St. Dionysios Greek Orthodox Church lot or the Holy Cross Preschool parking lot.

So Far, So Good

July 12, 2011

Construction at Holy Cross continues, and so far, we are on schedule.

The only thing that construction has impacted so far is the day when parents and students are asked to help the teachers set up. That will be pushed back. More details as they are available….
