Field Day and more…

May 21, 2012

from Holy Cross principal, Dr. Beverlin -

Thank you to the Fathers Club for the wonderful work they did around the school recently!  They fixed and painted the fence, fixed the counter top in the front office, put mulch around the school and much more!  A BIG thanks to all who helped out!

Today is Field Day, which is AN OUT OF UNIFORM DAY! All students will have a hot dog lunch unless the office is notified.

Thank you to Sawyer and Logan Cook – two kindergarten students who were Principal(s) for a Day last Wednesday!  They gave each of the teachers a penny raise, supervised the playground and announced the St. James Academy Band!  Thank you Mr. Cook and Mr. Cook.  :)

This year, report cards for grades K-7 will be coming home with the students on Wednesday, the last day of school.  8th grade report cards will be mailed home.

All tuition, lunch accounts, and After School Care accounts must be current in order for the report card to be sent home.

Tuesday, May 22 will be the last day for After School Care.

ALL STUDENTS NEED TO BRING A SACK LUNCH ON TUESDAY, MAY 22!

Wednesday, May 23 will be the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL.
Mass at 9 a.m. in the church, DISMISSAL AT 11:30.

Ready for Snow

November 16, 2011

from Holy Cross dad, Jon Chitwood -

As you may recall, we received just a little bit of snow last school year.  Snow was cleared from sidewalks with shovels by Fathers’ Club and school staff.

In an effort to improve the snow removal process, Fathers’ Club has donated a brand new 24-inch dual-stage snow blower to the school. Many thanks to the generous donations of Fathers’ Club that made this happen!

(Principal Beverlin shows off the new snow blower…)

Fathers Club Sent To The Principal’s Office

August 23, 2011

Yes, it’s true. Members of the Holy Cross Fathers Club were sent to the principal’s office this weekend. OK… it was just to paint the walls.

Thanks to all the dads and other volunteers who spent Saturday at the school, cleaning and prepping inside and out for the start of school tomorrow.

If you’re a Holy Cross dad interested in getting involved with Fathers Club, contact one of this year’s officers – Jon Chitwood, President; Joe Nielsen, Vice-President; Joe Jareczek, Treasurer; Ben Bailey, Secretary; or Jorge Palazuelos, Board Member At Large.  For dads who missed the Fathers Club table at Sign-Up Day, please send your $20 dues check via backpack mail to Jareczek 1AN. Make the check payable to Holy Cross Fathers Club.

There are upcoming opportunities to get involved:

  • Fathers Club will set up, staff an event and tear down at Parish Festival on Sept. 18.  Email board@hcfathersclub.org to sign up to help with any of these.
  • The annual back-to-school Fathers Club Cookout will be held Sept. 8 at 7:30 p.m. on the loading dock at the school.

Holiday Decorations

December 6, 2010

from Holy Cross dad, Jon Chitwood -

The Fathers Club elves have been busy this year with projects.  The group’s most recent project was decorating the tree and making a nativity for Christmas.  Fathers Club provided the lights, nativity and man power for the project.

Fathers Club would like to recognize and thank our wives for their support. We could not do it without you.

All Digits Remain Intact

November 15, 2010

Several Holy Cross dads gathered at the school on Saturday to trim trees and spruce up our grounds. Although several workers reported aches and pains the next day, I’m happy to report that all the men came away without injury. While tree limbs fell, all dad-limbs remained attached after their work with chain saws, chipper and assorted other tools of the tree-trimming trade.

Thanks for your hard work, guys. It looks great!

Thanks to the Fathers Club

August 19, 2008

If you drove by the school on Saturday you probably saw a great deal of activity.  The Fathers Club was here trimming and cutting the trees and bushes.  They also assembled our second piece of new playground equipment.  The cement will be poured and the mulch spread this week.  The students will be playing on it very soon.  Thanks to everyone who pitched and made the school look great!
