Tonight is the Battle of the Books FINAL competition.  The fun begins at 6:30 p.m. on the 2nd floor of the Oak Park Barnes & Noble bookstore.  Watch 4th, 5th & 6th graders share their knowledge of the books they’ve read.  Also, be sure to check-out the artwork from 2nd and 5th grades on display in the store.

Thank you for all of your support of the Holy Cross Book Fair on Saturday.  Holy Cross turned out in force, and the 6th grade band rocked the store!

Esta noche es la competencia FINAL de la batalla de libros. La diversión comienza a las 6:30 en el segundo piso de la librería  Oak Park Barnes & Noble. Vean al 4to. Y 6to. Grado, y compartiendo sus conocimientos de los libros que han leído. También, estar seguro de ver las ilustración del 2 º y 5 º grados en la exhibición de la tienda.

Needed: Book Fair Volunteers

We’re looking for some Holy Cross parents as volunteers to help out at the Book Fair at Oak Park’s Barnes & Noble on Saturday, March 24. Pick an hour block that works for you between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Click here to email me to let me know if you can help.

You’ll help welcome visitors to the book fair and direct them to the different Holy Cross displays and activities. AND you’ll award out-of-uniform passes to Holy Cross students who attend the book fair in uniform!
So, you’ll be very popular.  Thanks for your help.

Estamos buscando algunos padres de Holy Cross como voluntarios para ayudar en la Feria del libro en Barnes  & Noble en Oak Park’s Mall el sábado 24 de marzo. Puede escoger un horario que funcione para usted de 9 a.m. a 5 p.m. Haga clic aquí para enviarme un correo electrónico para que me deje saber si puede ayudar.

Puede ayudar a los visitantes dándoles la bienvenida a la Feria del libro y dirigirlos a las diferentes actividades que estará presentado Holy Cross. Habrá un premio de un pase para no usar uniforme para los estudiantes que asistan a la feria  usando su uniforme! serán muy populares. Gracias por tu ayuda.

Holy Cross Librarian Mrs. Anderson has shared a few more pictures from the bookfair earlier this month.

AND, she reported that the school netted $150 from Barnes & Noble for purchases made during the bookfair (online and in the store).  Thanks to everyone for another fun year at the bookfair!

Holy Cross will hold the annual spring bookfair at Barnes & Noble (95th & Quivira @ Oak Park Mall) again this year!

Librarian Anne Anderson has some great things planned:

• Meet local author/illustrator Brad Sneed! (time TBA)

• Join us for story time at 11 a.m. – meet Skippyjon Jones!

• Listen to the fabulous Holy Cross 6th-grade band! (time TBA)

• View the student art work that will be on display!

A portion of your Barnes & Noble purchases will benefit our Holy Cross school library. If you can’t attend the bookfair, visit bn.com/bookfairs to support Holy Cross from 03/05/11 through 03/10/11.

Also, as part of the bookish festivities, our Battle of the Books teams will compete for the school championship at Barnes & Noble on Monday night, March 7.

Reading Saves the Day!

Come and visit the Book Fair this week! It is open after school today (Wednesday) until 4:30 p.m.

Thursday is Family Reading Night, 4 to 8 p.m. in Pflumm Hall. Dress as your favorite hero/superhero and eat $1 per slice pizza.

On Friday, we’ll celebrate Grandparents Day,
and the Book Fair will be open 8 a.m. – Noon.

This is the major fundraiser for our school library media center.

EEC Stadium

There is a lot going on at EEC Stadium (I mean, Holy Cross’ preschool) this week!

All week long, there is a half-price book fair at the EEC during preschool hours. Stop by. Penny Miller, the EEC Director, says there are a lot of books available, not only for preschoolers but for older children, as well.

Thursday night is ALL STAR DADS NIGHT from 6 to 7:30 p.m., and it’s all for the preschoolers and dads. I won’t give away all the surprises, but there are a lot of fun activities planned. I hope to share pictures afterward. Stay tuned.
