Dear Families and Friends of Holy Cross Catholic School,
The weekend of “CELEBRATION” has finally arrived! I have been hearing about this special night since last June! I am very excited! I am excited to meet many families that I have not had a chance to meet yet and I am excited to get to know many families a little bit better. I am excited about all of the wonderful items that have been donated to CELEBRATION and I am excited about FUND-A-NEED!
Fund-A- Need looks and sounds a little different this year… We have NEW windows, NEW air conditioning, FANTASTIC teachers in every classroom, WONDERFUL parents, and EXCELLENT STUDENTS… What more could we ask for? Well, MORE EXCELLENT STUDENTS of course! We have room for more students – we are ready to fill those seats. The Fund-A-Need this year at Celebration could go toward many things to move the school forward…
A part time marketing director – to help the school move toward NO empty chairs and a waiting list!
Enhance teacher salaries – to keep the excellent teachers we have and entice more excellent teachers as we add more classrooms.
New textbooks – to stay up to date with the latest information and to stay academically competitive with neighboring schools.
Add money to the Guardian Angel Scholarship Fund – to give assistance to those families who are struggling financially to ensure they stay at Holy Cross and receive a top notch education.
Add a teacher to a grade level on the cusp of needing another classroom – this is to ensure that we don’t have to turn multiple students away and send them to another school.
????????????? – as Holy Cross continues to grow we want to be ready for whatever comes our way- good or bad. Having a Flex Fund will help secure the future of the school.

Did you that Holy Cross has a student led vocation club? Holy Cross Vocation Club started this year under the direction of Mrs. Carney. The club currently has thirteen members from grades six through eight. Eighth grader Kyle Lauterwasser is the club president.
The Holy Cross Vocation Club meets once each quarter. Last week, the club met to develop a vocation prayer suitable for all ages at Holy Cross. This prayer will be posted in each classroom, and each student will receive a prayer card. Classrooms will be asked to pray for vocations daily. Additionally, the Vocation Club will enroll individual students in the 31 Club sponsored by the Serra Club. Students will be asked to pray for vocations on the same date each month. (See below for the prayer.)
Fr. Mitchell Zimmerman, the archdiocesan vocation director, attend our meeting last week. He visited with the students, assisted us in creating the vocation prayer, and encouraged the group to continue its good work. The club was blessed to have Fr. Mitchell in attendance.

Holy Cross Vocation Club 2012

Desde la Maestra del sexto grado en Santa Cruz y
Líder del Club de vocación, Allison Carney-
¿Sabía usted que la escuela de Santa Cruz tiene un club de vocación para los estudiantes? El Club comenzó este año bajo la dirección de la Sra. Carney. Actualmente cuenta con trece miembros desde el grado seis hasta el ocho. Octavo grado Kyle Lauterwasser es el Presidente del club.
El Club de vocación se reúne una vez cada trimestre. La semana pasada, el club se reunió para desarrollar una oración para las vocaciones para todas las edades en Santa Cruz. Esta oración se publicarán en cada aula, y cada estudiante recibirá una tarjeta de oración. Se les pedirá a cada Aulas orar diariamente por las vocaciones. Además, el Club de vocación se inscribir estudiantes individuales en el Club 31 patrocinado por el Club Serra. Los estudiantes se pedirán para orar por las vocaciones en la misma fecha cada mes. (ver a continuación la oración).
P. Mitchell Zimmerman, el director Arquidiocesano de las vocaciones, asistió a nuestra reunión la semana pasada. Visitó a los estudiantes, los cuales nos han ayudado en la creación de la oración de vocación y alentó al grupo para continuar su buena labor. El club fue bendecido con P. Mitchell el cual asistió a la reunión.

January and winter weather once again go together!
I hope all your families are abundantly blessed in this New Year.
Some of our students have made New Year’s Resolutions. These include completing homework, helping with chores at home, helping others in need, and spending more time in prayer.
In the weeks ahead, teachers will know how the students are doing with their homework resolutions, parents will know how they are doing with their helping with chores at home resolutions, and our students will know in their hearts how they are doing with prayer.
With homework, chores, and other activities, the days can be long for our children; possibly we can help by setting aside some quiet time for prayer. The years will go quickly and homework assignments and chores will come and go. Christ remains a constant.
Catholic Schools Week is coming upon us soon.
Faith. Service. Academics.
The school is buzzing about all of the fun and exciting ways we will continue to celebrate all of the good things going on at Holy Cross Catholic School. Bishop Miege Pep Band will be coming over for an assembly, scooter races will take place, pie throwing, and lots of wild and crazy Spirit Days are in store for the students. Catholic Schools Week is a special time to show appreciation for the students who attend Catholic Schools, the teachers that teach at Catholic Schools and the parents who send their children to Catholic Schools. Thank you! We appreciate you!

El mes de enero y el clima del invierno nuevamente estan juntos!
Espero que todas las familias sean bendecidas abundantemente en este nuevo año.
Algunos de nuestros alumnos han hecho las resoluciones de año nuevo. Estos incluyen completar tareas, ayudar con las tareas en casa, ayudar a otros necesitados y pasar más tiempo en oración.
En las próximas semanas, los profesores sabrán cómo los estudiantes están respondiendo con las resoluciones de sus deberes, los padres se darán cuenta si estan ayudando con las tareas en casa y nuestros alumnos sabrán en sus corazones lo que están haciendo con la oración.
Con los deberes, tareas y otras actividades, los días pueden ser largos para nuestros hijos; pero posiblemente podemos ayudarles a apartar algún tiempo tranquilo para la oración. Los años pasarán rápidamente y las tareas y asignaciones de tareas vendrán y se irán. Pero, Cristo sigue siendo una constante.
La Semana de las escuelas Católicas esta próximamente sobre nosotros.

La escuela se esta preparando de diferentes maneras con diversión y emociones para celebrar todas las cosas buenas que tiene la escuela católica de Santa Cruz. La banda de Bishop Miege Pep estará con nosotros para la Asamblea, habrá carreras de scooter, estaremos lanzando pasteles y muchas cosas divertidas y locas tendremos durante los días de espíritu de los estudiantes. La Semana de escuelas Católica es un momento especial para mostrar agradecimiento por los estudiantes que asisten a las escuelas católicas, los profesores que enseñan en las escuelas católicas y los padres que envían a sus hijos a las escuelas católicas. ¡Gracias! Le agradecemos mucho!

In-house registration began yesterday for the Holy Cross Early Education Center.
If you have a preschool-aged child and would like to enroll, stop by the office at Holy Cross and ask Anita for a Preschool enrollment form. You can also give us a call at 381-7151, and we will get one sent home for you.
We have a Holy Cross Perks Program here at the preschool. There are a few perks at the EEC for having children enrolled at Holy Cross Catholic School.

Les digo hoy, mis amigos, aun cuando que nos enfrentemos a las dificultades de hoy y mañana, todavía tengo un sueño. Es un sueño profundamente arraigado en el sueño americano.
Yo tengo un sueño que un día esta nación se levantan y vivirá el verdadero significado de su credo: “sostenemos que estas verdades son evidentes: que todos los hombres son creados iguales.”
Tengo un sueño que un día en las rojas colinas de Georgia los hijos de los antiguos esclavos y los hijos de los propietarios del antiguo esclavo serán capaces de sentarse a la mesa de la hermandad.

As you probably have heard, Holy Cross classrooms are pitted in a competition to see who can bring in the most donations of items for the Celebration auction on January 28. See below for the standings of the classes at this point in the contest.
Keep in mind that the contest winners will be the class that has the highest percentage of gifts donated. So, if 25 families out of a class of 25 donate gifts, the class has 100% participation.
The deadline has been extended to January 20, so you still have time to bring in a gift!

Como probablemente habrá escuchado, las aulas de Santa Cruz están realizando una competencia para ver quién puede aportar las mayoría de donaciones de para la subasta de Celebración el 28 de enero. a continuación puede ver la clasificación de las clases como están en este momento dentro del concurso.
Tenga en cuenta que los ganadores del concurso será la clase que tiene el mayor porcentaje de regalos donados. Por lo tanto, si las 25 familias de la clase donan 25 regalos es decir un regalo por familia, la clase tiene 100% de participación.
